Dr. Fatemeh Karimi
General Dentist with limited practice to Oral Surgery
Education
Dr. Fatemeh Karimi obtained her first dental degree as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2000 in Iran. When an uncommon cancer caused the loss of a family member, Dr. Karimi was motivated to pursue her passion to help cancer patients. She went on to a very challenging postgraduate dental program in a prestigious dental school in Iran to become an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. She graduated in 2006.
After providing years of maxillofacial surgical care and treatment in both a hospital setting and her private office, Dr. Karimi moved to Canada. Relocating to a new country and spending more time with family was her first priority, but finally her desire to help people pushed her again into a new challenge: to get her dental licence in Canada. She started a new professional life in Alberta in 2018, practicing limited dental surgery after certifying as a general dentist though the National Dental Examining Board of Canada.
In 2022, the beauty, landscape and climate of the West Coast drew her and her family to Victoria.
Practice Philosophy
“My patients can be confident in the care they receive because of my passion for continuing education”
As a lifelong learner who thrives on staying up to date, Dr. Karimi attends numerous continuing education courses, lectures, seminars and dental conferences each year in the field of dental, gum and implant surgery. This education aids in addressing patient’s expectations, concerns and goals, enabling Dr. Karimi to better design a treatment plan that suits a patient’s needs and values.
Dr. Karimi believes that treatment plans should include care, safety, esthetics and function. Although she has limited her practise to dental and gum surgeries, her top priority is passing information to patients about their dental care in a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. Although the word “surgery” might seem unpleasant, her patients have a pleasant memory after receiving gentle, caring dental treatment.
Away from the Office
“Trails and Beaches always give us signs, signs of nature which lead to forest, alpine and ocean”.
Dr. Fatemeh can sometimes be found at the soccer practice field with her husband, Hamid, to cheer on their talented son, Pedram, or at home cooking and baking!
